Snippets of life

Monday 11th: Went and watched Hero at the cinema. Not bad, a bit of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon meets Lord of the Rings at times (ie/ enormous sets, huge battles). A good story too, and definately one for the big screen. Take your glasses, it has subtitles.

A bonus story for the lab folk: Managed to solve a small mystery at work - the strangely insensitive western blot substrate. Most importantly, this involved a not-quite-gratuitous opportunity to mix ECL with concentrated HRP antibody. Instant glow in the dark (or not, in the case of the old batch). Mystery solved, and I got to play :D.

Sunday 10th: Hmmm ... planned to do a lot of work related reading ... does reading Real Simple magazine and drinking coffee count? It was a freezing cold gray day, perfect for cozying up in an armchair and not much else.

Saturday 9th: Australian election - the people have spoken, what can I say? Went to dinner at James and Anna's place and met one of my literal neighbours. Turns out that the rotation student I supervised earlier in the year is now in her lab. A small world is even smaller in Ithaca.
